Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) is a strong seasoning successfully used in phytotherapy. It originated in south-eastern Europe and western Asia and it is resistant to the low temperatures as well as to droughts. It has large edible leaves and a branched stem.
As a medicine horseradish root has many curative properties. Some of the many uses for horseradish are relieving the symptoms of the flu, sore throat, and bronchitis. It can be made into vinegar, in teas and syrups; it can also be applied as a poultice to improve blood circulation and fade age spots and freckles." Also, it is believed that horseradish has aphrodisiacal properties.
